Yakub in " CAPITALS "

Not even 1% of those who had opinions about Yakub Memon had a clue about who SP Baljit  Singh was, now don’t google it, he was India’s hero from Punjab Police, who was shot down in the terror attack in Gurdaspur a day before Yakub’s execution. Yakub Memon ‘s execution and later cremation got more coverage in media than our beloved ex president Dr. APJ, this really proves why India did not even deserve a man like Dr. APJ.

On the eve of the execution of Yakub Memon, Opinions in India were split into two from the very middle on whether Yakub Memon should really be hanged and indeed on capital punishment as such. This was a very worrying debate on a number of parameters.

11. Any debate on capital punishment happens ONLY when a punishment of this nature is given in rarest of rare cases today in India. The number of death sentences in India have gone down exponentially.

s2. A Capital punishment given to a convict is actually equated with another case and another convict where a similar punishment was  not given , in more cases for people of another religion, giving the whole argument a religious undertone.
33. Every Tom Dick and Harry especially the English speaking pseudo liberals , give half baked opinion on the judgment of the court, obviously with little merit.

I have two opinions on this and I shall quote them in two separate paragraphs as the two opinions have no relation with each other.

ONE: I think Capital punishment should be abolished in this country, as I believe most people getting this punishment have anyways given up on life and in some cases were on suicide missions and so death doesn’t horrify  them, what can really scare the shit out of them and maybe improve them a bit is solitary imprisonment or maybe long term imprisonment of the sorts that happens in some countries.
For a victim or a murderer or a rapist , A revenge killing seems like the logical thing to do, but maybe a solitary confinement for long periods can be a bigger punishment, much bigger. This debate should happen openly but not when we have a case of capital punishment sentence meted out by the honorable courts.

The biggest flaw in capital punishment however is a small chance of the convict being proven not guilty or in some cases a little less guilty, after being convicted is obviously possible and then we cant get the dead man back, In Israel a similar case happened after which they banned  capital punishments, even a country like Israel. Even while convicting a criminal one should always believe that there is a chance, a very little chance of this person not being guilty, the proof for which we might get in the future, maybe after 5, 10 or even 20 years. Taking his life is irreversible and its against the very spirit of our law.

TWO: India has been plagued by liberals and “ Presstitutes” for long and they only take mileage protesting against any capital punishment of late, mostly belittling the crime that has led to the punishment indeed. You might not agree with the punishment but doubting the conviction of the criminal is actually doubting your legal system and making a laughing stock out of yourself. Human rights are fine but milage on the back of these controversies is certainly not.

I would like to make it clear that Yakub Memon was tried SIX times at different levels from TADA courts right upto the Supreme Court and he was found guilty, if anyone  has doubts about the process, you must consider living in India, it must really be a Banana republic.

For those quoting Americans, remember that Osama wasnt even tried when he could have been since he was captured alive, so lets not even get the American example anywhere.

Two things are clear, we must debate capital punishment, and hopefully abolish it but we must not discuss it when any enemy of the state is going through it, the debate gets into a separate spiral all together.
